Nintendo is making some changes for the Switch 2, at least in Europe. Due to the European Union’s “right to repair” legislation, Nintendo is making a new version of the Switch 2 that lets users open up the hardware and replace the internal battery with ease.

Nintendo is also doing this for the Joy-Con 2 which will have removable batteries inside, which is also being done to comply with the new law.

The European Union passed the “right to repair” legislation in 2023 and companies have until February 2027 to comply with the law. As such, while we do not know the exact date this new version will release, it will be no later than February of 2027.

Will you be picking up this new system revision?
