Nintendo has been promoting GameChat, the ability to join friends with live video chat as you stream and play games online, as a major feature of the Nintendo Switch 2. More details about various features and options the feature will have are becoming known as we get closer to release and the latest is the reveal that GameChat will offer both text-to-speech and live subtitle functionality.

X user OatmealDome, revealed the news on social media via two posts. The first shows a user typing in text via GameChat while playing Super Mario Party Jamboree and the system then reads the text out loud. It should be noted that the typing is being done via an on-screen keyboard, but it’s likely USB keyboards will also be supported.

The next post contained an an image showcasing the live subtitles feature. Those playing online with friends via GameChat will be able to enable a section on-screen resembling a chat room that actively transcribes what your friends are saying over their microphones.
