Nintendo has filed a new lawsuit against the creators of Yuzu, an emulator used for Switch games, with the document noting that the tech illegally circumvents its software encryption and facilitates piracy. Nintendo’s lawsuit also further states that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom saw over one million copies downloaded before the official launch and how Yuzu’s Patreon support doubled during that time.

Nintendo is alleging that Yuzu makers accessed Switch games from a hacked console, which would be a DMCA violation and by making at least one copy of each, that would be a copyright violation. Nintendo is arguing that Yuzu’s business model helps piracy flourish and the company is seeking damages for alleged violations and wants the emulator to be shut down.
