First off we got “Hayato’s Journey”. Created by a Brazilian programmer named Master Linkuei. It is a fan made reimagining of an obscure but awesome Sega Master System samurai action platformer game called “Kenseiden”. If you love the Shinobi games and even pre-SotN Castlevania you will definitely have a blast with this one. You run around slashing demons and other monsters, use magic spells, throw spears in this very straight forward arcade style action platformer. The graphics and music here are incredibly well done for a free homebrew game! It even has references to a lot of old school action games. If this sounds like your cup of tea then you definitely don’t want to miss out on “Hayato’s Journey”.

Next we have “Honey Soldier MD” a fast paced timed score attack shmup obviously influenced by Hudson Soft’s Star Soldier series and other Turbo Grafx-16 / PC Engine games. Created by Iori Branford. The formula is the same. Shoot everything as fast as you can to rack up points, find hidden tile bonuses and other secrets, destroy the boss as fast as possible to get a huge reward at the end. The scores do save via SRAM. I think every shmup fan will get a kick out of this one. Definitely recommended!

Finally we got a very ambitious Sega Genesis / Mega Drive homebrew port of Real Bout Fatal Fury Special courtesy of another Brazilian programmer RheoGamer! This is incredible stuff. Its obviously scaled down from the Neo Geo, PS1, Saturn releases but what we got here is incredible for Genesis hardware. Most of the fighters are playable. The graphics and music is top notch. There is a training mode to practice your combos. Also there are a few easter eggs exclusive to this homebrew port. Definitely grab yourself a 6 button pad for this one because you will need it.
