Employment agency Gakujo recently held a survey looking at Japanese graduates are on the job hunt and surveyed 5,476 university students from across the country to see which companies they’re most interested in and there are some interesting results. While gaming companies like Konami, Bandai Namco, SEGA and Capcom all had a good showing and placed in the top 50, Nintendo was the top choice for those wanting to work in gaming as it was #3 in overall companies, behind the trade giant Itochu and food and biotech corporation Ajinomoto, which ranked first and second respectively. Some factors that played into Nintendo included appeal is its popularity in the video game space, but also how big the company is globally in addition to its low employee turnover rate, which is close to zero, compared to the average turnover of around 30 percent.
Other positives about Nintendo that were noted included “a high rate of paid vacation utilization,” plus “strong support for parenting” and “a unique point system for employees that can be used for games, books, travel, and more” , along with “a deep understanding of diversity” as well as “a partnership system that allows employees with same-sex partners to be treated as if they were married, among other progressive and practical initiatives.”
Perhaps some new blood will be joining Nintendo very soon?
