After leaving a trail of bullet-riddled cyber gangsters at The MIX Summer Game Showcase, Philly-based indie publisher Retroware and developer Zenovia Interactive are excited to announce that Neon Inferno will blaze onto consoles & PC on October 2nd, 2025. In addition to launching digitally on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, the game will also receive a simultaneous physical release through Limited Run Games.
To celebrate the announcement, they’ve released an all-new gameplay trailer. This footage offers a fresh glimpse of Neon Inferno’s stylish brand of cyberpunk-infused gunplay, which is heavily inspired by classics like Contra, Metal Slug, and Wild Guns.
Watch as skilled assassins Angelo Morano and Mariana Vitti paint the dystopian streets of NYC neon red as they blast their way through hordes of hardened criminals and crooked cops, deflect enemy bullets back into their faces with ease, and go toe-to-toe with screen-filling bosses.
If you’ve yet to go hands-on with Neon Inferno, now’s your chance! A new playable demo is available now as part of Steam Next Fest, offering an early taste of what players can expect from the hotly-anticipated shooter ahead of its launch this fall.
About Neon Inferno: Developed by Zenovia Interactive and published by Retroware, Neon Inferno lets players take on the role of either Angelo or Mariana as they fight for a fledgling crime family striving for power against a corrupt NYPD and other crime syndicates in the war-torn metropolis.
With “Bullet Time,” players can deflect certain projectiles back at enemies they choose–regardless of whether they’re in the foreground or background! With multiple upgrades available to equip between missions, multiple difficulties, including an Arcade Mode, and two-player co-op available, players will be able to tackle their missions however they choose.
Key Features:
-
Shoot close, aim far: a dynamic blend of side-scroller and gallery-shooter, where the action takes place in both foreground and background (like playing Contra and Wild Guns at the same time).
-
Glorious 32-bit Style: A sci-fi cityscape rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack
-
Two-Player Co-op: With danger lurking around every street corner, wouldn’t you be better off with a friend?
-
Satisfying Arcade Challenge: Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode…or put your skills and resilience to the test with 1-credit-clear arcade mode.
Neon Inferno will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Wishlist your copy today.
