The Nintendo Switch 2 is out now and thanks to backwards compatibility, the vast majority of games from the Switch 1 are playable on the system, and it turns out they play much better than expected. While Nintendo announced updates for many games to run better on Switch 2, either with a free update or a Nintendo Switch 2 update, there are a large amount of games that that haven’t even received updates, and some that have not had a patch in years that are performing much better on Switch 2.
Gamers are discovering many of these improved experiences on their own, and thanks to this, we have some insight into a handful of titles that have gotten improvements when played on Switch 2
So far these improvements include:
- Smash Bros. Ultimate has drastically improved loading speeds while fps drops with 8 Ice climbers are gone
- Bayonetta 3 runs at 60fps
- Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core now runs at a steady 30 FPS
- Batman: Arkham Knight runs at a steady 30fps
- One Piece: Pirate Warriors now runs at a steady 60 fps
- Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition uses an uncapped framerate, letting the title run much better on Switch 2
- Witcher 3 runs at a steady 30fps
- Rune Factory 3 now runs at a steady 60fps with improved visuals
- Persona 5 Strikers now runs at a steady 30 fps
- Darksiders 3 now runs at a steady 60 fps with better performance
- Lollipop Chainsaw now sees better performance
- Red Faction Guerrilla now runs at a steady 60 fps
- Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl have improved loading speeds
- Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition & Age of Calamity has a better/stable frame rate
- Dead by Daylight has improved stability and loading and minor graphical improvements
- LA Noire has improved framerate and loading on Switch 2
- Goat Simulator now hits a steady 60 fps
- Splatoon 3 has faster load times
- Panzer Dragoon: Remake has improved FPS and textures
- New Pokémon Snap loads faster, has better performance and improved frame rate
- Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes now runs at 60 fps
- Fire Emblem Engage and Fore Emblem Three Houses have loading time improvements
- My Hero Academia One’s Justice 2 is now 60fps even during the bosses
- Lollipop Chainsaw now sees better performance
- Monster hunter stories 2 is a locked 60fps now
- Astral Chain now runs at a steady 30 FPS
- Dragon Quest Builders 2 now runs at 60 FPS
- Mortal Kombat 1 has vastly improved loading and better performance
- Balatro has improved performance and less lag
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons now has faster loading times
- Asphalt Legends runs at 60 fps and has better performance
- Bakeru now runs at a steady 60 FPS
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim now has more stable FPS rate and sharper textures
- Trials of Mana now has an improved fps rate
- Two Point Campus now has faster loading time and a sharper UI
