D4 Enterprise has unveiled another non RPG EGGCONSOLE release. The classic MSX shooter Zanac released back in 1986 by the legendary Compile who are known for making some of the best shooters during the 3rd and 4th generations. It later got enhanced ports on MSX2, Famicom Disk System, and NES. A few years back the mobile phone version came out on the eShop too. The EGGCONSOLE version here is actually the original MSX release.

Zanac may look like another run of the mill 80s shooter but don’t let that fool you. This game has mechanics that were pretty ahead of its time. The sense of speed as you blast waves of foes as well as the way the difficulty gradually increases as you collect power ups. There are also a wide assortment of sub weapons. 8 of them to be exact. All this is unheard for a shooter released in 1986. That is why Compile were masters in their craft. I strongly recommend Zanac to anyone who loves shooters or even those who want to get into this genre. It’s pretty beginner friendly.

Like all EGGCONSOLE releases there are multiple video options, save states, and a scan of the original manual. Also there is a stage select so you can practice on those stages you are having a tough time on.

EGGCONSOLE Zanac will be released on the Nintendo Switch eshop for $6.49 on 1/23. Here is a video of the game in action.
