Thanks to the hard work and dedication of fans, another arcade classic can now be played by anyone with access to MAME.

Mitchell Corp, the maker of Cannon Dancer/Osman also released Gamshara. aka Daredevil for arcades. The title plays similar to games like Wild Guns and NAM 1975 in that it is a shooting gallery game that sees players take control of both a crosshair and a character, necessitating a need to ensure the character is kept out of harm’s way while taking down the enemies. While the game’s pre-rendered look does feel a bit dated now, Gamshara/Daredevil is still a lot of fun.

The game came out in 2002 when arcades were dying and this genre was not as popular anymore, so the game fell into relative obscurity. It has taken till now for the game to be available on MAME and all can enjoy it now.

Since another Mitchell arcade exclusive got a console port recently, maybe this one will as well. We can only hope.
