Coin-op manufacturer Alan-1 has released a trailer for a new arcade cabinet based on Atari’s Missile Command Recharged. Alan-1 and Atari announced a deal in March 2024 to release “at least ten” full-sized arcade game cabinets inspired by the Atari’s “Recharged” series, powered by Alan-1’s ‘Video Arcade System’ technology. The first of these was Asteroids Recharged, and now Alan-1 has revealed it will also be bringing out a new machine based on Missile Command Recharged, which will release exclusively for arcades.
What is noteworthy is that the render featured in the video doesn’t appear to be a typical 2-player upright cabinet like Alan-1’s previous Recharged release, but instead appears to have a much larger design that is specifically tailored for larger venues. It also contains a tall flatscreen monitor, twin-bench seating, and two sets of control panels equipped with various buttons and a trackball.
In addition to the Missile Command Recharged news, Alan-1 also revealed that all of the remaining Recharged games will be getting upright 2-player arcade cabinets before the end of this year. The first of these is expected to be Cavern of Mars Recharged.
