ATLUS has officially opened pre-orders for Metaphor: ReFantazio on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players another chance to experience one of 2024’s most acclaimed RPGs when it arrives on Nintendo’s latest console on November 12, 2026.
The pre-order launch comes alongside the start of a new character trailer series for Metaphor: ReFantazio, with the protagonist taking the spotlight in the first video. ATLUS is expected to continue highlighting the game’s cast through the series, offering another look at the characters players will encounter throughout its sprawling fantasy adventure.
Originally released in 2024, Metaphor: ReFantazio quickly established itself as one of ATLUS’ biggest successes. The fantasy RPG earned a 94 Metacritic score and went on to take home three awards at The Game Awards 2024, including Best Role-Playing Game, Best Narrative and Best Art Direction.
The game’s commercial performance was equally impressive. Metaphor: ReFantazio sold more than one million copies on its launch day, making it the fastest-selling title in ATLUS history at the time. Its success also marked a major new direction for the studio, bringing many of the systems and ideas associated with its previous RPGs into an entirely new fantasy setting.
In Metaphor: ReFantazio, players are transported to a kingdom facing a dangerous period of uncertainty and upheaval. With the realm on the brink of collapse, the protagonist becomes caught up in a struggle that will ultimately determine its future. Rather than simply relying on combat, players will need to build relationships with allies, confront their fears and make choices as they travel through the game’s expansive world.
The RPG combines traditional turn-based combat with ATLUS’ signature social and character-building mechanics, while introducing the Archetype system that allows characters to take on different roles in battle. Exploration, party development and the bonds formed with companions all play an important part in the journey.
