Kong: Survivor Instinct has officially arrived on Nintendo Switch, giving fans of Legendary’s MonsterVerse another chance to step into a world where humanity is very much outmatched by enormous Titans. Developed and published by 7Levels, the 2.5D action-adventure game is now available digitally through the Nintendo eShop for $24.99/€24.99, while a physical edition from Meridiem is also available at retail.
Set shortly after the events of Godzilla vs. Kong, Kong: Survivor Instinct follows David, an oil rig worker desperately searching for his daughter Stacy after a sudden Titan attack leaves a city in ruins. With mass evacuations underway and buildings collapsing around him, David must push through the devastated districts while dealing with both human threats and the much larger monsters tearing the city apart.
Survival is not simply about fighting everything in sight, however. David has access to the Monarch ORCA Σ device, a prototype inspired by the technology used to influence Titans in the MonsterVerse. The device can be used to affect their behaviour, potentially turning the immense power of these creatures into an advantage while David navigates environmental hazards, solves puzzles, and searches the ruins for useful resources, weapons, and equipment.
Naturally, Kong himself is among the Titans David will encounter, but he is not the only major creature making an appearance. Kong: Survivor Instinct also introduces Abaddon, a new Titan created by the 7LEVELS team in collaboration with Legendary Entertainment, alongside other returning and original superspecies. Their presence is designed to make the ruined city feel like a battleground even when David is not directly fighting them.
The human side of the conflict also brings back Alan Jonah, the former eco-terrorist leader from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Jonah returns with the Hyenas, a mercenary group pursuing its own agenda amid the chaos, giving David another threat to contend with while he attempts to reach his daughter.
Rather than putting players in control of Kong, Kong: Survivor Instinct takes a more grounded approach to the MonsterVerse by placing an ordinary father in the middle of a conflict between creatures on an entirely different scale. Its 2.5D presentation combines platforming, combat, environmental puzzles, and Metroidvania-style exploration as David works his way through a city being reshaped by the Titans around him.
Kong: Survivor Instinct is now available on Nintendo Switch alongside its existing PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S versions. The Nintendo Switch release can be purchased digitally for $24.99/€24.99, with a physical edition manufactured by Meridiem also available.
