Fan developer hoffman recently brought Sega’s 1987 arcade classic Shinobi to the Neo Geo (MVS/AES/CD), by disassembling the arcade version of the game back into source code, and is at it again. This time, hoffman is looking to repeat the process for Sega’s 1989 arcade beat ’em up Golden Axe, according to a recent social media post, and has shared some footage of his progress so far. This footage shows the game’s game’s title screen, character bios, and high scores, but right now the video game backgrounds are seemingly missing, though h0ffman did state that the port is progressing “a lot quicker” than he had initially anticipated.
At the moment, no release date has been given for the Golden Axe port, but hopefully we will see more soon.
