Another fan developer has revived a well known NES game. Friday the 13th received an infamous adaptation on the NES from Atlus, and published by LJN, that has become part of gaming legend for its unique gameplay, music and depiction of Jason Voorhees. Now 37 years later, the game has received a fan remake as Friday the 13th Revisited, remade from scratch for the Game Boy Color with new gameplay mechanics and a portable experience.
Step into the shoes of one of the counselors and explore the campground as you try to survive the threat of Jason Voorhees. Your goal: protect your friends, find items that will help you take on Jason—who is lurking around Crystal Lake Camp—before he finds you. Will you be able to survive until dawn?
Key features include:
Enhanced classic gameplay: Based on the original NES game, but adapted and optimized for the Game Boy Color with smoother, more precise controls.
New trading system: Collect items and trade them with other advisors to obtain more powerful weapons. Cooperation is key!
Crissy can now provide you with healing potions that automatically restore your health if it drops to 0. A lifesaver in critical moments!
Protect the advisors; if Jason catches one, the chain of exchange will be broken and you’ll lose access to important items. Defend them before it’s too late!
Jason has his own health bar. When it reaches 0, he is defeated. But watch out—he can always come back stronger.
A portable gaming experience designed specifically for the Game Boy Color, featuring graphics and gameplay mechanics that make the most of the platform.
It should be noted that Friday the 13th Revisited is a fan project, which could mean that the rights holders may force the game to get taken down from the internet at any moment. For now, you can enjoy this game completely for free via the Itch.io page.
