SQUARE ENIX announced that the March version update for FINAL FANTASY XI Online is now available. The update adds the first phase of a new alter ego upgrade system, gradually beginning the shift from supporting party play to better allowing solo players to enjoy a wider variety of content. It also refreshed the monthly challenges in Ambuscade and will feature various special campaigns for March.
Details on the content featured in the March version update can be found below:
- A New Alter Ego Upgrade System – In this first step in a Trust magic system renewal, players can begin strengthening their alter egos. The system is undergoing this change to support those who enjoy playing solo to experience a wider variety of content on their own.
- Return of Vana’Bout – From March 21, players can participate solo or with other adventurers to take on the large-scale “Vana’Bout” Records of Eminence objective and earn fabulous rewards, with additional bonus campaigns if everyone earns above the target objective.
- New Foes in Ambuscade – Velkks and Treants return to Ambuscade.
- Login Campaign – The March 2026 Login Campaign runs from March 11 at 1 a.m. PDT through to April 5 at 7:59 a.m. PDT. Receive points and exchange them for in-game items. More information on the campaign items is available at: https://sqex.to/vberX

On March 13, the Treasure Hunter Bounty Campaign also returns, making players’ chocobo digging skill more likely to increase, game content easier to play and increasing rewards. The campaign will run in two different installments:
- Phase 1: Friday, March 13, 2026, at 1 a.m. PDT to Sunday, March 22, at 7:59 a.m. PDT
- Phase 2: Friday, March 27, 2026, at 1 a.m. PDT to Sunday, April 5, at 7:59 a.m. PDT
