There have been multiple recent projects involving porting titles to the Genesis / Mega Drive, but now a new project will be bringing a Genesis / Mega Drive game to the SNES. This is the work of modder Proteus Resurrection, who is working to bring Castlevania: Bloodlines to the SNES.
The game was originally an exclusive for Sega’s system, and was the first time an entry in the series came to a Sega platform. Also known as Castlevania: The New Generation in Europe, the game, set in 1917, it follows the exploits of John Morris and Eric Lecarde as they attempt to prevent Dracula from taking over the world once more.
Proteus Resurrection has shown off the game for the first time, and has said he plans to release the demo “when it’s ready.” Proteus Resurrection did not show a lot in the reveal but did show off parallax scrolling, as well as additions like scrolling mist and pouring rain effects which would not have been possible in the original game because of the the Genesis / Mega Drive’s inability to handle transparency effects.
