There has been a lot of anticipation for Yuzo Koshiro’s upcoming shmup for Genesis / Mega Drive Earthion, which was announced in 2023. Given the game was announced for a late 2024 release, many have gotten extremely excited about playing the amazing looking shmup. Sadly, we will need to wait longer as Yuzo Koshiro has confirmed that Earthion been pushed into 2025.
“The development of Earthion is on track, and it looks like the project has entered the home stretch, heading into the stadium, though it’s taking a bit longer than planned. Stay tuned for the final reveal coming next year!”
Koshiro also revealed that Earthion will be playable at the upcoming Retro Game Summit at the Ota Ward Industrial Plaza PiO on November 30th.
The current plan for Earthion is to release on modern-day consoles alongside the Genesis / Mega Drive, while Limited Run Games will be handling physical distribution.
