Well here is some baffling news. Dispatch has arrived on Switch and Switch 2 and the game has had a number of changes for the Nintendo release when it comes to censorship.

When opening up the Dispatch settings menu on PC and PS5, there are censorship toggles for Replaced Licensed Music, Visual Censorship and Profanity Censorship. On Switch and Switch 2 the Visual Censorship toggle is completely missing, and the visual censorship is always-on. The results is multiple scenes where nudity is covered up by black boxes, and there is at least one scene where a character’s moaning during a sex scene has been muted.

Adhoc has stated Nintendo requested these changes, which is odd because Nintendo previously allowed a game like Cyberpunk 2077 to be released completely uncensored despite being more more risque and explicit. Adhoc has emphasized that the story content is still the same, but this is still a worrying sign.

“Different platforms have different content criteria, and submissions are evaluated individually. We worked with Nintendo to ensure the content within the title met the criteria to release on their platforms, but the core narrative and gameplay experience remains identical to the original release”.

Update: A user on Discord claims to have spoken to Nintendo customer service on the matter and came away with the implication that the decision was from Adhoc and not Nintendo.

It is not yet known if this is true or not, but we will continue to look into it

Update 2: It has been pointed out that the censorship may be due to the CERO rating in Japan
