PowerWash Simulator is a game with a simple premise that quickly showed itself to have excellent gameplay and a very therapeutic effect on the mind. There have been DLCs for the game before, including one based on Back To The Future, which was decent but too short, and added to the experience overall. Now a new DLC has come and it is easily the best content for the game yet.

The Warhammer 40 000 universe is a vast one and has very detailed and in-depth lore that can admittedly be a bit difficult to get into for newcomers, but this crossover DLC serves as both a great introduction for those curious, while also being a treat for longtime fans of the franchise. You take on the role of a tech priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the technology-worshiping sect that handles all technological matters for the Imperium and are essentially starting on your first day by cleaning the huge war machines of the Imperium. These machines range from Rogal Dorn tanks to Imperial Knight mechs, and each offers a satisfying experience.

The game’s mechanic of sending you messages as you go about your tasks continues here, and these offer great insight into the 40K universe. From a Commisar making threats of having you sent to a penal legion, while giving insight on some of the regiments of the Astra Militarium, to a tech-marine giving you some details about the missions of a dreadnought that gives you details of the Dark Angels space marine chapter and what they were up to. These messages do not say everything, and there are multiple redactions that fit the nature of how the Imperium would censor information and manage to both give newcomers an introduction to the series lore while acting as funny easter eggs for long-time fans.

The environment is very different here, as with other DLCs for the game, but even compared to the other DLCs, this one feels unique. You are cleaning the machines in large cathedral environments, which is true to how the Adeptus Mechanicus works in the lore, and as you go about the tasks, you slowly advance in ranks and receive new titles and augmentations. It also must be stated just how well the DLC handles how the machines are supposed to look, from the minor details on the Dreadnoughts to the Imperial Knights being accurate in scale with you needing to move to higher levels to be able to clean everything.

What helps is just how satisfying everything feels. Not just in terms of the excellent adaptation, but also the therapeutic nature of PowerWash Simulator the game. Washing these machines just gives a good feeling, and while some of the DLC before had triggered some obsessiveness in my need to see everything cleaned, this time I just felt relaxed even with the Knights and their massive size.

Of course, it helps to know a bit more about the lore to get the full experience, but taking the role of a tech priest performing the “Rites of Cleansing” is still fun even without that knowledge. There is something special about cleaning these iconic vehicles, machines and armours with your MK II Aqua-Santica Arquebus ( what you thought the Mechanicus would have a simple name for a Power Washer?), that feels just as satisfying as successfully painting a miniature. Taking on the forces of grime and dirt, almost straight out of the depths of Nurgle is a tough task, but someone has to do it to keep the Imperial war machine running.

The Warhammer, 40 000 DLC for PowerWash Simulator perfectly captures the lore of the series and works it into PowerWash Simulator very well. Fans of Warhammer 40 000 may want to take a look at PowerWash Simulator as a result of this and see how good the game is, and this may even give people curious about Warhammer a sense of appreciation for the painting of the miniatures. In short, it is a great introduction to both IPs while also being satisfying for longtime fans of both. This comes highly recommended, and there is much to enjoy here.
