There has been a retro console shmup renaissance going on as of late. You may have heard of industry veteran Yuzo Koshiro working on a new Sega Genesis shmup called “Earthion”. He is not the only old timer coming out of retirement. Former Compile programmers Takayuki “Jemini” Hirono (Zanac, The Guardian Legend, Gun-Nac), Hiroki “Daigattai” Kodama (GG Aleste II, Spriggan Mark-2), and Satoshi “Pac” Fujishima (Final Justice, Gulkave, Guardic) have for quite some time been working on a new shooting game for NES / Famicom with a hot anime babe and transforming mech. Boy, its looking absolutely lovely with its detailed backgrounds and screen filling bosses.
Recently the latest demo as of May 2024 has been play tested at both Paris, France during the Pixel Days video game convention and at Tokyo’s Taito Hey at the Akihabara district. It has been confirmed by the publisher Cat Hui Trading that it will get worldwide distribution from Broke Studio located in France.
Estimated release date should be by the end of the year. I will keep everyone updated with more news related to this new NES game. For now here is the official cover art!
Here is a clip of the demo.
