Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is almost ready to unleash another vampire-hunting adventure, but players can get an early taste of the upcoming game today thanks to a newly released free demo. There is also a particularly welcome surprise for those playing on Nintendo Switch 2, as the game is running at 60fps on Nintendo’s newer hardware.

The demo is now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, giving players the opportunity to experience the early stages of the latest entry in the long-running Castlevania series ahead of its October 15 release. Better yet, progress made in the demo can be carried over to the full game, provided the demo save data is retained and the full version is played on the same platform and account.

The Switch version of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse was previously listed as running at 30fps, while the other versions were expected to run at 60fps. However, testing of the newly released demo has revealed that the Switch version can reach 60fps when played on Switch 2, effectively giving owners of Nintendo’s newer system a significant performance boost without requiring a separate native Switch 2 release.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is being developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the teams behind Dead Cells, and follows Rose Belmont as she takes up the Vampire Killer and battles through 15th-century Paris. The game is set 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and combines traditional 2D action and exploration with faster combat and expanded movement options.

With the free demo now available and its progress carrying over to the full release, there is little reason for Castlevania fans to wait until October 15 to see what this new chapter has in store. For Switch 2 owners in particular, the unexpected 60fps support makes the demo an interesting opportunity to see how the game performs on Nintendo’s latest hardware before the full adventure arrives.
