While there have not been any official announcements, it seems that Blizzard is open to bringing Diablo IV to the Nintendo Switch 2. The overseer of the franchise, Rod Fergusson, noted in an interview that the issue is about ensuring that Switch 2 can fully support live services, noting that it was “something to look at”.
“I think there’s an opportunity there for sure. I mean you have Diablo 3 and Diablo 2: Resurrected on Switch and with backwards compatibility they’ll be playable on Switch 2. It’s nice Switch 2 has the performance that can run a game like Diablo 4, so yeah, it’s something to look at for sure. I think that the challenge is less around the hardware and just about how we – live services on Switch have been a little bit challenging in the past, and so I’m hopeful that as they launch this June and as we look to the future that becomes easier and easier so it makes more sense to put a live service on the platform.”
It would be interesting to see what could be done with the game on Switch 2, give the system’s support for mouse controls with the Joy Con 2.
