Nintendo Switch 2 is out and analysts are looking into performances of Switch 1 games on the system. One game that has been found to perform significantly better is Batman: Arkham Knight, a game that has serious performance issues on the original Nintendo Switch.

Regarding the game on the original Switch, Digital Foundry noted that  “the CPU is pushed hard streaming in and decompressing data” due to the open world. It was also determined based on stutters in the port,  that storage was stressed as well and Reaching the 30 frames per second cap just didn’t happen most of the time, with the framerate event falling into the 20s and below.

Well, while textures are still paired back and there are aliasing problems, as on Nintendo Switch 1. Digital Foundry has observed that the game now “runs as flawlessly as it’s possible with the original code.” It is not a perfect case though as  “in Batmobile driving, while frame-rate is fixed, animation error hoves into view”, and crashes just by pausing the game have been observed.

This all being said, a patch could be released soon to address these issues.
