Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate III  will come to Xbox Series in 2023, and will feature split-screen cooperative play when played on Xbox Series X, but not when played on Xbox Series S. That said,  Cross-save progression between Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Steam will be available.Larian Studios previously it was held back by technical issues, particularly getting split-screen cooperative play to run on Xbox Series S, as Microsoft requires feature parity for Xbox Series games.

Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke stated:

“Super happy to confirm that after meeting [Microsoft Gaming boss Phil Spencer] yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate III to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time,”

“All improvements will be there, with split-screen co-op on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”
