Hamster announced that it will release Air Combat 22 as an Arcade Archives title on Switch and PS4 and as an Arcade Archives 2 title on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series and PS5 on July 3, 2025.
Air Combat 22 is a flight shooter released by Namco (Bandai Namco Entertainment) in 1995. This title features an evolutionary step in 3D graphics and flashy animations using the “System Super 22” arcade board, an upgrade of the “System 22” architecture used for a wide range of legendary 3D games. Take on missions for the thrill of shooting down lots of enemy crafts, white-knuckle missions that require expert techniques, and more as you conquer diverse aerial combat scenarios. Become a hero of the skies!
The “Arcade Archives” series has faithfully reproduced many classic Arcade masterpieces. Players can change various game settings such as game difficulty, and also reproduce the atmosphere of arcade display settings at that time. Players can also compete against each other from all over the world with their high scores. Please enjoy the masterpiece that built a generation for video games.
For those unfamiliar with Air Combat 22, you may be familiar with the series with the name the sequels took, Ace Combat.
