2024 has been a big year for NES Tetris, with a player reaching the kill screen (aka the game crash) for the first time a few months ago, and now a new milestone has been reached. Pro Tetris player Dog has become the first person to reach the rebirth screen in NES Tetris.
The rebirth screen happens when level 255 is reached and then completed, the game will begin a new loop from the beginning.
This is considered the final level in NES Tetris and Dog was the first to reach it, but there is a catch.
Dog achieved this with a a version of the game that prevents the game crash. The next step them, will be to try this on the vanilla version of the game and attempt to dodge the crash,
The screen may have been reached by a player, but we are still waiting for it to be done without assists.
