A new patent has been filed by Nintendo that was spotted by Tom’s Guide and Game Rant which hints that Nintendo could look to include some form of predictive input in the Switch 2. The patent was filed by in August 2024 and was published on January 23rd of this year, and appears to be a system that tracks button presses and directional movements with the goal of predicting the next possible input sequence.
Mysterious Patent Hints At "Predictive Input" For Nintendo Switch 2 1

It seems from this that the system will be able to “learn” from your button inputs in certain games and use that data to speed things up, such as menu selections that are repeated often. This is sort of similar to how Rollback netcode works, but in that case,  the system is predicting the next input and “rolling back” if the player’s input is different, rather than memorizing a sequence of inputs.

That said, just because the patent has been filed, does not mean Nintendo will be using it for sure.
