A rare piece of gaming history has been found and preserved and it is an NES game from Sony. At one point Sony was a third-party publisher releasing games on other systems under the CSG Imagesoft label, later Sony Imagesoft, and in the ’80s there were plans to release three games on the NES in North America, originally produced in Japan. Of these three games, only their localization of Super Dodgeball was released, with their planned localization of Flying Hero as Super Rescue being passed on to Nexoft and Blazebusters before ultimately not releasing. The third game Sony planned to release was Super Sushi Pinball, a localization of Super Pinball ( which lacked Sushi) and it was advertised but not released.
The game had passed Nintendo’s LOT check so it was not rejected and Sony had advertised it, but nothing came of it and the game was considered lost until now. Recently, The Video Game History Foundation managed to not only track down a copy of the game but they have also preserved it online for a whole new generation to experience. This was a pre-release prototype owned by Ed Semrad and has been digitized and uploaded to Hidden Palace, so you can try it by heading over there.
