WayForward is one of the most respected indie developers right now and have worked with a number of publishers such as Nintendo, Arc System Works, and even Atari to revive and make new entries in beloved gaming series. Today we look at four more series we think WayForward would be a good fit for,

Splatterhouse

WayForward is no stranger to beat em up games, with multiple entries in the River City series as well as Double Dragon Neon, and have dabbled in horror games as well. Splatterhouse as a series has never really gotten its due, even with its attempted revival in 2010, so WayForward could apply what they have learned to not only make a successful new side-scrolling Splatterhouse game but also a game that has good horror elements and even some comedic ones as well for a few lighthearted moments. River City Girls has shown that WayForward fundamentally understands what makes a good beat ’em up, and we could finally have a revival of Splatterhouse that fans have wanted for a long time.

Wario Land

WayForward has made a number of cartoonish platformers that have gone over very well, such as the Mighty Switch Force series among others and have shown a skill when it comes to that particular genre. Fans of Wario Land have wanted the series to make a return for years, with the last entry being Wario Land Shake It on the Wii. WayForward’s creativity and innovative game design make them a perfect chance to bring Wario’s non-microgame adventures back and there is so much potential to be had. Wario Land has inspired modern games like Pizza Tower and AntonBlast, which are popular now and a revived Wario Land could be on top of the gaming world once more. WayForward has already remade two Game Boy Advance games for Nintendo, so imagine what they could do with an original title based on a Nintendo IP

Gunstar Heroes

WayForward is no stranger to run n gun games, with its own original IP Spidersaurs, Contra 4 and the recent Contra: Operation Galuga, a remake of the first game. WayForward has shown it knows how best to bring the genre back to the forefront and this could be applied to SEGA and Treasure’s Gunstar Heroes. Gunstar Heroes is a different style of run-n-gun, and there is a lot more room for innovation and wacky creativity, which fits WayForward perfectly. A WayForward take on Gunstar Heroes could be as over the top as possible while maintaining a good challenge and creative level and enemy design. It would be a real treat for fans of the game.

Castlevania Aria and Dawn of Sorrow Remake

Speaking of the aforementioned Contra remake, WayForward is on very good terms with Konami and one Konami series fans have wanted back for a long time is the Castlevania franchise. But perhaps instead of a new game, WayForward could do for Konami what they did for Nintendo with the Advance Wars remakes and remake Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow. The games could be given some visual and audio overhauls, and the translation issues and errors in stats could be fixed in Aria of Sorrow, while Dawn of Sorrow could be remade to no longer need a touch screen. Given the amazing art and music that WayForward puts into its games, The Castlevania games would be in excellent hands and a new generation of fans could enjoy these two games in the best way possible.

……………………………………………….

These are just four ideas, and there are many other games that WayFoward could work on. What would you like to see?
