Owlcat Games has released a new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader showing off the consequences system,

Each action you take will have a different consequence that will affect a later outcome, especially in your interactions with others like the Inquisition. This may even include a different ending depending on how you choose to play.

Some of these actions you can take involve making heretical choices, but more significantly, you can make a decision to save a world or subject it to exterminatus. Working with Chaos is also an option as the trailer shows the Rogue Trader encountering a Forgefiend daemon engine and getting dialogue choice to attempt to negotiate and work with the Chaos war machine, provided that the character fulfills the “Hereticus – Adherent” criteria. The trailer also shows off the alignment map, a circular chart with five concentric rings divided into three equally sized areas,  relating to Heretical, Imperial, and Rogue Trader tendencies

As mentioned, the Inquisition is involved and the trailer introduced Inquisitor Lord Calcazar, the Inquisitor responsible for the Koronus Expanse. Your previous actions and how you answer his interrogation with will change the outcomes of the conversation significantly, showing again that each action has a significant consequence. it is unclear yet if the exterminatus mentioned is a specific plot point, but either way that should catch your attention.  There were more NPCs and faction reactions teased but not discussed in detail.

To be a Rogue Trader is to have freedom the likes of which any other citizen of the Imperium couldn’t possibly comprehend. Owlcat Games has released a new trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader to showcase how this freedom can influence the consequences. Additionally, Owlcat is announcing that the game will feature Japanese localization (subtitles) upon release to accompany already revealed ones.

As a traditional cRPG, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is an experience almost entirely shaped by the player’s decisions. Depending on what path the Rogue Trader chooses, the Koronus Expanse and its powerful entities change in response, opening up new gameplay opportunities. One such entity showcased in the trailer is Inquisitor Xavier Calcazar; the power and authority he wields are enough to make a Rogue Trader green with envy. Just one conversation with Lord Calcazar could set you down a path of dutiful service to the Emperor or taint your legacy with the black mark of heresy.

“There is no such thing as a plea of innocence in my court. A plea of innocence is guilty of wasting my time.” – Inquisitor Lord Fyodor Karamazov.
