The long-awaited Katana ZERO DLC has grown into something much bigger than originally planned, with developer Askiisoft now describing the expansion as being the size of a full sequel.
In a new update, Askiisoft confirmed that work on the downloadable content is still ongoing, revealing that its expanded scope will be accompanied by a soundtrack featuring more than 30 new songs. The developer also promised more updates in the future, although a release date has yet to be announced.
The expansion has been in development for years, with its scope growing considerably since it was first announced in 2019. Previous updates have highlighted the addition of new levels, characters, gameplay mechanics, and story content, with the DLC intended to continue Zero’s journey while exploring more of his past.
While the DLC was previously confirmed to be free, Askiisoft’s latest update did not clarify whether that plan remains in place following the latest expansion in scope.
Katana ZERO is currently available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store. With the expansion now reportedly reaching the scale of a full sequel, fans have even more reason to keep an eye out for the next development update.
