NIS America and Nihon Falcom are bringing Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA to Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027, giving the action RPG a new release with support for up to 120 frames per second and cooperative play through GameShare.

Originally released in 2016, Ys VIII follows adventurer Adol Christin after a shipwreck leaves him and the other survivors stranded on the mysterious Isle of Seiren. As the castaways work together to survive and search for a way home, Adol begins dreaming of a mysterious blue-haired maiden named Dana, whose story is intertwined with the secrets of the island.

Players will explore the island, battle dangerous creatures, rescue other survivors, and gradually develop a settlement that provides useful services throughout the adventure. The action RPG also features multiple playable characters who can be switched between on the fly during combat, while separate gameplay sections involving Dana offer another perspective on the unfolding mystery.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will support frame rates of up to 120 FPS, while GameShare will let players team up with a friend in cooperative play. It will also introduce Spanish-language support to the game for the first time, expanding its available language options.

Although Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is already available on the original Nintendo Switch, this new release gives Switch 2 owners another way to experience one of Nihon Falcom’s action RPGs, with higher frame-rate support and a new cooperative option.
