A live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie may be the next major adaptation of CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed action-adventure RPG, with Paramount Pictures reportedly developing a film set in the world of Night City.

According to a report from Deadline, Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is attached to produce the project alongside CD Projekt Red, which serves as both the developer and rights holder for the Cyberpunk 2077 franchise. Di Bonaventura is no stranger to major Hollywood franchises, having produced multiple films in the Transformers series, while his production company is based at Paramount.

The Cyberpunk 2077 movie is reportedly still in the early stages of development, however, meaning there is very little known about what Paramount and CD Projekt Red have planned. There is currently no writer, director, or cast attached to the project, and no release window has been announced.

Paramount reportedly has several video game adaptations in development, making Cyberpunk 2077 another major gaming property that the studio hopes to bring to the big screen. Considering the popularity of CD Projekt Red’s franchise, Night City certainly offers plenty of material for a live-action adaptation, although it remains to be seen whether the film will tell a completely new story or draw more directly from the events and characters of the game.

This also isn’t the first time a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project has been discussed, but the involvement of Paramount, CD Projekt Red, and a producer with di Bonaventura’s blockbuster track record gives this particular project some significant weight. For now, though, there’s still a long road ahead before V’s world makes its way onto the big screen.
