Nintendo fans in Toronto are getting a new place to celebrate their favourite games and characters, as EB Games Canada has announced that its flagship Yonge Street location will soon be home to a dedicated Nintendo retail space. More notably, the new space will mark Nintendo’s first-ever store-within-a-store in North America.
Located inside the EB Games at 267 Yonge Street in Toronto, the permanent 1,500-square-foot Nintendo space will officially open to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. Rather than simply adding a few Nintendo displays to the existing store, the dedicated area is designed to bring Nintendo’s games, characters and worlds together in a more immersive retail environment.
Visitors will be able to check out Nintendo Switch 2 hardware and software, try out playable games at dedicated demo systems and browse Nintendo-themed displays and merchandise. The space will also feature photo opportunities for fans looking to commemorate their visit.
One of the more notable offerings will be a selection of My Mario merchandise, with some items being available exclusively at the Nintendo space at EB Games in Canada. That should give collectors another reason to make the trip, particularly those looking for Nintendo merchandise that won’t necessarily be found at every EB Games location.
“We’re always looking for new ways for people to experience Nintendo games and worlds,” said Susan Pennefather, Vice President and General Manager of Nintendo of Canada. “The Nintendo space at EB Games is an incredible place to explore what’s new, discover merchandise and celebrate our iconic characters. We’re proud to bring this concept to North America for the first time, right here in Toronto. We can’t wait to welcome people inside.”
EB Games Canada CEO Stéphan Tétrault also emphasized the role physical retail can play in bringing fans together, describing the new Nintendo space as an immersive experience designed to bring customers closer to the characters and franchises they love.
The Nintendo space will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17. For Nintendo fans in Toronto, it looks like the flagship EB Games location is about to become an even bigger destination for checking out the latest games, hardware and merchandise.
