The latest chapter in the Castlevania saga can now be played ahead of its full release, as Konami has launched a playable demo for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The demo gives players a chance to experience the opening stages of the upcoming 2D action game before it officially launches on October 15, with progress able to carry over into the full version.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes the series back to 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III, as Rose Belmont takes up the family fight against Dracula and his forces. The daughter of Trevor Belmont, Rose must battle her way through the burning streets of Paris before eventually making her way to Dracula’s castle, using a range of weapons and abilities alongside the legendary Vampire Killer whip.

Developed by KONAMI alongside Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the game focuses on exploration-driven 2D action while placing a new Belmont at the centre of the story. The demo provides an early look at how Rose’s journey begins, giving longtime Castlevania fans and newcomers alike an opportunity to see the latest interpretation of the franchise before launch.

One particularly welcome feature is that progress made in the demo can be transferred to the full game when it releases. The demo and full version must be played on the same platform and with the same account, while the demo save data must also be retained for the transfer to work. Players will need to ensure that the full game has been updated to its latest version when moving their save data over.

Alongside the demo’s release, Konami has also opened the door for players to share gameplay videos and other content from Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse in accordance with its Video Posting Guidelines.

The game is scheduled to launch on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Physical and digital editions are available to pre-order, while the Midnight Editions include alternate costumes for Rose, a Digital Sound & Art Gallery, and an in-game relic. Players who pre-order or make an early purchase of any edition will also receive an additional Alucard-inspired costume for Rose.

For anyone eager to step into Rose Belmont’s vampire hunt before launch, the Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse demo is now available to play.
