Middle-earth fans looking to revisit Mordor have another reason to keep an eye on the Nintendo Switch 2, as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Middle-earth: Shadow of War have quietly appeared on the Nintendo eShop ahead of their upcoming release.
Both games are set to launch digitally for Switch 2 on September 30, giving Nintendo’s latest console two of Monolith’s most notable Lord of the Rings-inspired games. The releases were spotted through the North American eShop, with both titles available separately as well as through a bundle.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is coming to Switch 2 as the Game of the Year Edition for $19.99, although the current pre-order promotion cuts that price to $9.99. Meanwhile, Middle-earth: Shadow of War will arrive as the Definitive Edition for $49.99, with its pre-order price reduced to $24.99. The two games can also be purchased together in a bundle that is currently discounted from $69.99 to $34.99.
The eShop listing also reveals that Shadow of War will require 73GB of storage on Switch 2, making it a particularly sizeable download. The listing for Shadow of Mordor currently shows only 50MB, but that appears to be a placeholder rather than the game’s final download size, so that figure is expected to change before launch. Shadow of War is also listed with touchscreen support.
Originally released in 2014, Shadow of Mordor introduced players to the Nemesis System while following Talion’s journey through Mordor. Shadow of War expanded on that foundation with a much larger world, additional systems, and the ability to build an army of Orcs.
With both games arriving on September 30, Switch 2 owners won’t have to wait much longer to return to Middle-earth. The combination of two complete editions and the temporary pre-order discounts also gives players the option of picking up either game individually or grabbing both together ahead of launch.
