Square Enix has debuted a new trailer for FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION during Gamescom Opening Night Live, giving fans a closer look at the third and final entry in the acclaimed FINAL FANTASY VII Remake series. The game is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC.

The latest trailer puts the spotlight on the enormous Weapons, powerful guardians that emerge as the planet faces an unprecedented crisis. With the creatures making no distinction between friend and foe, their arrival brings catastrophic destruction across the world as Cloud Strife and his companions continue their fight against Sephiroth.

The Weapons, which were a major late-game element of the original FINAL FANTASY VII, return in reimagined form for FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION. The new trailer showcases several of these massive encounters, including battles taking place across desert landscapes, in aerial combat and beneath the sea. Some of the Weapons will also feature in particularly challenging endgame battles inspired by their original appearances.

The trailer also introduces the new Summon Typhon, while offering a closer look at the game’s expanded approach to open-world exploration. Players will be able to travel across the planet using the Highwind airship, parachute into different locations and make use of grappling hooks and Chocobo mounts to navigate the world.

Another new addition is the FITS system, which allows Cloud and Tifa to equip specialized outfits that grant new abilities and enhance their combat capabilities. The trailer shows Cloud taking on the role of a Warrior and Tifa assuming the Black Mage role, with the system drawing inspiration from the classic FINAL FANTASY job system.

In FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION, Cloud and his allies find themselves racing against time as the planet approaches total destruction. With Sephiroth nearing godhood and Meteor threatening to obliterate the world, the group takes to the skies aboard the Highwind for what promises to be their most important battle yet.

The entire planet will be freely explorable through the Highwind, allowing players to decide where they want to travel and which conflicts they want to tackle first. With the Weapons causing destruction across the world, players will have to choose where to go, who to help and how to approach the various crises facing the planet.

The game will also expand upon the hybrid combat system established in the previous entries, allowing players to switch between real-time action and Tactical Mode. New playable characters and abilities will further expand the combat options available throughout the adventure.

Players will also be able to carry save data bonuses from the previous games into FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION. Those with save data from FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE will receive the Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia, while save data from FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH will unlock the Phoenix Summon Materia.

Both FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE and FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH are currently available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Both games also include Streamlined Progression options that allow players to customize the experience with features such as unlimited HP and MP, a constantly full ATB gauge and easier weapon ability acquisition.
