Ubisoft has announced Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake, a new version of the beloved 1999 turn-based strategy game. The remake is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Ubisoft Store. A release date has not yet been announced.
Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake will allow players to return to the world of Erathia with updated visuals, refined animations, and modernized audio. The remake will also include the original game’s two expansions, bringing the complete Heroes of Might and Magic III experience to modern platforms.
The game will retain the strategy and role-playing elements that helped make the original a classic, with players able to choose between nine different factions, each featuring its own playstyle, creatures, heroes, and armies. Players will explore the world, gather resources and artifacts, develop their towns, and build powerful armies as they work to overcome their opponents.
The original campaigns will also be presented together as a unified story, with the remake adding a new prologue and epilogue alongside cinematic scenes. This will give returning players a new way to experience the story while introducing newcomers to the world of Heroes of Might and Magic III.
Multiplayer will also be a major part of the remake, with support for up to eight players in online battles. Players will also be able to compete locally through the game’s Hot Seat mode, allowing friends to take turns battling for control of the battlefield.
Ubisoft is also giving players tools to create and customize their own experiences. Community-created maps will be available from launch, while editing tools will allow players to design maps and campaigns and adjust their balance.
