Capcom has released a new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword during Gamescom Opening Night Live, giving players a closer look at several of the game’s intense boss battles while also announcing new content for its public demo.
The Onimusha: Way of the Sword demo is now available on Nintendo Switch 2 through the Microsoft Store, while the newly updated version of the demo has also launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The latest trailer puts the spotlight on several formidable enemies that Miyamoto Musashi will face throughout his journey. Among them are Ifuu and Burai, a powerful duo capable of wielding wind and thunder against the game’s protagonist.
The trailer also offers a new look at Musashi’s duel with Dokyo, along with the first gameplay footage of Musashi in his fully awakened Oni form. The transformation gives players a glimpse at another side of the samurai’s abilities as he takes on some of the supernatural threats standing in his way.
Players looking to experience the action for themselves can now jump into the updated demo. In addition to the previously available content, the demo introduces a second quest set within the Oni Refuge. The surreal area provides an early look at the game’s story while introducing new gameplay mechanics and a confrontation with the towering Daidara.
The demo gives players an opportunity to get a taste of the swordplay-focused combat ahead of the game’s full release. Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to launch on September 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.
Pre-orders are currently available, with players who purchase the Standard, Deluxe, or Premium Deluxe Edition before September 24 eligible to receive Early Adopter Bonuses.
The Standard Edition will be available both physically and digitally. The Deluxe Edition will include the base game along with additional cosmetics and charms for Musashi, while the Premium Deluxe Edition will include additional cosmetics for Musashi and his allies as well as an in-game soundtrack.
