If you’re looking for a new way to push your Nerd skills to the limit, now’s your chance. Philadelphia-based indie video game publisher and developer Retroware is excited to announce the release of the first major free content update for The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit, introducing the all-new Endless Challenge Mode.
Now available on all platforms, Endless Challenge Mode pushes players through randomly generated rooms teeming with lethal enemies and deadly hazards. After conquering 10 stages, you’ll face a grueling boss encounter. If you manage to come out on top, you’ll gain access to the Game Weenie’s shop, where you can purchase a variety of randomized items to aid you in your next, progressively more difficult run.
Packed with power-ups to master and added polish and refinements to the base game, this update also includes a few nods to Programancer’s previous release, Prison City, and the upcoming love letter to Castlevania, The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest, making it the perfect excuse for players to jump back in and experience everything The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit has to offer.
Developed by Programancer—the developer behind Prison City and The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest—The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit released digitally on October 23 on all modern platforms. It delivers an authentic, side-scrolling action experience inspired by the toughest NES classics. Combining pixel-perfect retro presentation with modern production values, the current-gen versions feature exclusive live-action footage filmed just for the game to make it feel like a fully interactive episode of the long-running Cinemassacre web series.
