Atari today launched Adventure of Samsara, a mysterious 2D Metroidvania action-adventure, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and GOG. Adventure of Samsara features a deeply interconnected world, woven together by a heady, twisting narrative of death, rebirth and memory. The game is developed by the Brazilian studio Ilex Games.
In Adventure of Samsara, players take control of the Solar Champion, a long-dead Plutonian resurrected by the primordial light of the Sun. Tasked with reactivating a mysterious interdimensional fortress, the Champion must restore balance to the multiverse. As players battle through a series of diverse, interconnected biomes and confront brutal mutant bosses, they will unlock new abilities and enhancements – each revealing deeper layers of the game’s enigmatic, cosmic narrative.
“Adventure of Samsara is more than a tribute to the original 2600 title Adventure – it builds on Atari’s legacy, fusing it with modern Metroidvania storytelling to create something entirely on its own,” said Ethan Stearns, VP of Games at Atari. “Set in a rich fantasy world with striking pixel art and a layered narrative of memory and rebirth, we think players will return again and again to uncover the game’s deeper mysteries and easter egg-like references.”
