During Quakecon 2025, Nightdive Studios’s latest project, a remaster of Heretic+Hexen, was released. During the convention, Shacknews got a chance to speak with Nightdive Studios and asked about future projects.

CEO Stephen Kick and VP of Business Development Larry Kuperman were asked a number of questions, including what games they would like to pursue next. Kick and Kuperman both confirmed they still wanted to work out the rights issues to No One Lives Forever and work on that game, but then Kick revealed the game that is at the top of his bucket list. That game being Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, is  a 2002 horror game developed by Silicon Knights and published by Nintendo exclusively on the GameCube, and has seen no re-releases of any kind. A remaster would take a bit of effort due to the game’s signature sanity effects, which would sometimes affect the UI to make it seem like there was a game error, or the TV volume was turning down, and would need to be adapted to modern technology. Nightdive would also need to work with Nintendo directly, as Nintendo still owns the rights to the game.

Still, considering how many fans have been clamoring for new with this game, Nintendo partnering with Nightdive might not be a bad idea. Nightdive has shown it is capable of handling such a project.
