Nintendo has announced a change for how purchases are made on the eShop in Japan that will have implications worldwide.
Specifically, Nintendo has announced that the Japanese eShop will stop accepting both foreign credit cards and PayPal accounts as methods of payment, meaning that any cards opened outside of Japan will no longer function on the Japanese eShop and likewise for PayPal accounts that originated outside of Japan. This will also apply to the My Nintendo Store.
Nintendo has said that they are making this move in order to prevent fraud, and right now this change has only been announced for Japan, but we will keep you updated if this happens to other regions also.
