Arc System Works America, Inc. has announced Nintendo Switch digital pre-orders are now available for the upcoming game sequel, River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next, which brings a new chapter in Kunio’s “Three Kingdoms” story. The game will release on November 7, 2024 for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4, and Steam.
River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next is the sequel game to 2022’s River City Saga: Three Kingdoms, featuring 6 exciting story chapters filled with over 100 River City characters. Players will experience comedic twists spanning from after the Battle of Red Cliffs to the climax of the Three Kingdoms tale in the Battle of Wuzhang Plains, where River City ruffian Kunio takes the heroic role of Guan Yu as he joins the hot-blooded battle over the nation.
In addition, fans are invited to check out a sneak peek of the story from Chapter 3 until the exciting climax in Chapter 6 below and learn about some of the game’s new characters, as well as enjoy some of the game’s background music here.
● Chapter 3: Cloudy Sky: Guan Yu defends Jingzhou on his own as a jab against Cao Cao. He attacks Cao Ren in Xiangyang, wielding his impressive military might to clutch Jingzhou and get within firing distance of Cao Cao. There isn’t long to rejoice, however, as Sima Yi brainwashes Sun Quan of the Wu into breaking his alliance and attacking Guan Yu. Lu Su helps him escape the perilous situation, and he barely manages to make it away alive. While Sun Quan’s betrayal enrages Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Lu Su convince him to help free Sun Quan from his brainwashing.
● Chapter 4: Seven Times: The Liu Bei forces renew their alliance with the Wu. With the battle against Cao Cao ahead, the Shu team consider an alliance with the Nanzhong region given its position behind them. However, Meng Huo, self-proclaimed King of Nanzhong, spreads a false rumor that the Shu have arrived to invade the region. The skilled warriors of the region meet them with resistance. Zhuge Liang sees this and takes an unexpected path, defeating Meng Huo only to release him repeatedly. Once freed, Meng Huo finds another capable warrior to bring into the fight against them, attacking again and again. What could Zhuge Liang be up to?
● Chapter 5: Fall Crisis: Our heroes prepare for an all-out conflict with the Wei. Crossing the mountains of Hanzhong, they tread deep into Wei territory. Zhuge Liang’s tactics help the Northern Expedition proceed smoothly, with one Wei land after the next falling into their hands. However, at the Battle of Jieting, Ma Su ignores Zhuge Liang’s warnings and sets up base atop a mountain, leading to a crushing defeat. This critical loss puts the entire Northern Expedition in peril, changing the tides. Can Liu Bei and his comrades overcome this pitfall along the way…?
● Chapter 6: Eternal Battle: As they continue their Northern expedition, Liu Bei and his troops face the Wei tactician Sima Yi in the Battle of Wuzhang. They find themselves up against an army of robots trained on data secretly gathered from capable generals. The entire plot comes together as they get a full picture of Sima Yi’s schemes. Find out what the genius tactician has up his sleeve in the thrilling conclusion to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms!
